Blackburn hope to sign Santa Cruz

Rovers boss Mark Hughes is keen to start talks with the Paraguay star, 25, and says Rovers may be able to wrap up a deal for Santa Cruz over the weekend.

Hughes said: "We are very close regarding Santa Cruz. As far as I am aware he is in the country now.

"Maybe in the next 24 hours a deal could be done. He is a young player, an international with a good reputation playing at a top European club."
